Jason Phillips
Catcher | New York Mets

Hitting
Phillips seems to become especially focused in big situations. Let's face facts: Phillips hits a lot of ground balls... and in my book, if you're slow of foot and put the ball on the ground, you're bound to get tied up in the double play. He hits righthanders and lefthanders with equal consistency.

Baserunning & Defense
His defense is solid but unspectacular. His arm is accurate enough. He generally takes one base at a time, though he'll take advantage if an outfielder gets lackadaisical.

2010 Outlook
The New York Mets signed him to a long-term contract, but don't think they won't drop Phillips like a hot potato if something better comes along.
