Pierce never has been a patient hitter. Pierce always has been a line-drive hitter who uses the entire field. He hits righthanders and lefthanders with equal consistency.

Baserunning & Defense
Pierce is an intelligent baserunner with average speed, but he's not a basestealing threat. When you play Pierce you're not putting him in for his glove. Ed's arm leaves a little to be a desired.

2010 Outlook
I can't say I know what The Free Agents were doing locking this guy up to a long term contract. A questionable call at best.
