Brian Roe
Third Baseman | Pittsburgh Pirates

Hitting
Roe is an excellent mistake hitter who belts middle-of-the-plate fastballs or hanging breaking balls. He generates most of his power against lefthanders. During the last two years, he has become more patient and gotten better loft on the ball. It's sort of unfortunate that Brian has such difficulties with right handed pitching. You simply can't be an everyday player in this league with that kind of weakness. He uses the entire field and has gap power.

Baserunning & Defense
Roe plays a near-flawless third baseman, making very few errors. His arm is well above average both in strength and accuracy. Roe isn't fast, but he's a heady baserunner who rarely gets thrown out.

2010 Outlook
The Pittsburgh Pirates were smart, they locked Roe up to a long term contract. Roe has impressed at the A-ball level. Look for the Pittsburgh Pirates to give him a shot in Double or Triple A before the year is up.
