Kirk Rueter
Relief Pitcher | Toronto Blue Jays
Pitching Rueter's control is among the best in the game. His curveball is solid; he throws it better than your average reliever. Rueter also has a decent changeup. He tends to work slowly when in a jam, which just makes his problems worse by lulling his fielders to sleep. Rueter also throws a screwball. He frequently leaves fastballs up in the strike zone, where they get pounded. He traditionally fares better against lefties.
Defense & Hitting Rueter does a fine job of holding runners, and has become crafty in the second decade of his career by offering a variety of moves to first base. He isn't especially quick off the mound but generally fields his position adequately. Rueter is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Rueter has some pop in his swing.
2010 Outlook I really like what this guy brings to the table.
