Scott Service
Relief Pitcher | Retired or Inactive Players
Pitching Service also has a decent changeup. The Retired or Inactive Players hope he can work on his control a little bit. Every once and a while one slips away from him and either ends up at the backstop or in the right field bleachers. When you throw a curveball, it better break. Hanging curves equal earned runs in this league, you just can't get away with them. Unfortunately, Service's curveball tends to hang. He's almost as effective against lefthanders as he is versus righthanders.
Defense & Hitting Service's move to first base is average. He tends to fall off slightly to the first-base side of the mound, making him vulnerable to bunts toward third base. He makes up for that minor flaw by being aggressive in fielding his position. Service is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Service has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Retired or Inactive Players have been known to use Service as a pinch-runner on occasion.
2010 Outlook Service flat-out isn't ready for this level of competition. Expect the Retired or Inactive Players to send him down promptly. But if you ask me, I'll pass on Service.
