Gary Sheffield
Right Fielder | Retired or Inactive Players

Hitting
Sheffield is a legitimate run producer. He'll make the adjustments if he gets behind in the count or the game is on the line, spreading out his stance and looking to the opposite field. Sheffield was a line-drive hitter when he first came up, but over the last few years has become more of a true home-run hitter, lofting more high flyballs. He doesn't perform well against right-handed pitching. He's a straight pull hitter whose power extends from the leftfield gap to the line.

Baserunning & Defense
Sheffield is an intelligent baserunner with average speed, but he's not a basestealing threat. Sheffield doesn't read balls well off the bat, misses cutoff men consistently and floats throws to the infield. His arm is accurate enough.

2010 Outlook
Sheffield is in charge when he's at the plate.
