Marc Spector
Center Fielder | Pittsburgh Pirates

Hitting
Spector quickly learned that he could drive the ball out the opposite way. That knowledge has made him a better hitter because he now uses the entire field. But Marc's detracters are quick to call attention to his ongoing struggles at the plate with men on base. Makes you wonder if they'll sign him when he comes up for free agency... He has a natural lift to his swing, which produces few groundballs. The statistics don't lie: Spector gets most of his home runs against lefties. He uses the entire field and has gap power.

Baserunning & Defense
His defense is solid but unspectacular. Runners take advantage of his weak arm. Spector doesn't have great speed, though he reads righthanders' moves well enough to steal a few bases each season without getting caught very often.

2010 Outlook
Spector performance in AAA is making it difficult for the Pittsburgh Pirates to ignore him much longer. Expect his name to be on the September call-up list.
