Junior Spivey
Second Baseman | Idaho Sporks
Hitting Spivey doesn't have any power, so he slaps the ball in the hole and up the middle, then uses his speed to generate hits. In past seasons, Spivey has been a bit of a liability with men on base. Spivey usually pounds the ball into the ground to try to get the most out of his speed. He hits righthanders and lefthanders with equal consistency. It's hard to explain but Junior Spivey plays much better on the road then he does at home. It's unfortunate too, with Spivey signing a hefty contract. You gotta imagine management wants a little better relationship between him and the fans.
Baserunning & Defense Spivey is one of the fastest players in the game and the majority of his stolen bases are the result of his pure speed. He also can take an extra base as well as anyone. Spivey plays a near-flawless second baseman, making very few errors. His arm is accurate enough.
2010 Outlook The Idaho Sporks signed him to a long-term contract, but don't think they won't drop Spivey like a hot potato if something better comes along.
