John Thomson
Starting Pitcher | Milwaukee Brewers
Pitching The key to Thomson's success always has been his ability to keep hitters off balance by changing speeds and spotting his pitches. His curveball is solid; he throws it better than your average starter. Thomson also has a decent changeup. Because he can't overpower hitters, Thomson has to fool them instead. He attacks lefties and righties with similar success.
Defense & Hitting With a decent slide step and his constant attention to the running game, Thomson limits the damage done by basestealers. He fields both bunts and slow groundballs in front of the plate equally well. Thomson is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Thomson has some pop in his swing.
