Charlie Toliver
Catcher | Free Agents

Hitting
The book on Toliver is that you can knock the bat out of his hands with an average major league fastball. With his slap-hitting approach, Toliver always hits like he already has two strikes. The results are usually groundballs or line drives to the opposite field. He hits righthanders and lefthanders with equal consistency. You can expect Charlie Toliver to hit the ball to the opposite field... that's just the kind of hitter he is.

Baserunning & Defense
He has below-average speed and is stiff on the basepath. He's poor on a straight steal but has some success at reading pitchers and working a delayed steal. Toliver is a poor defensive catcher. He isn't very mobile or adept at blocking balls in the dirt. Runners take advantage of his weak arm.

2010 Outlook
What The Free Agents was thinking when they signed Toliver to a long contract, is beyond me: this guy flat-out sucks.
