The book on Valcarcel is that you can knock the bat out of his hands with an average major league fastball. He has a natural lift to his swing, which produces few groundballs. The switch-hitting Valcarcel has better plate coverage and more power from the right side than when he bats lefthanded. You can expect David Valcarcel to hit the ball to the opposite field... that's just the kind of hitter he is.

Baserunning & Defense
His speed is below average and he's not a threat to steal. His glovework leaves a lot to be desired. Runners take advantage of his weak arm.
