Sergio Valdez
Starting Pitcher | Retired or Inactive Players
Pitching Valdez also has a decent changeup. The Retired or Inactive Players hope he can work on his control a little bit. Every once and a while one slips away from him and either ends up at the backstop or in the right field bleachers. He frequently leaves fastballs up in the strike zone, where they get pounded. When you throw a curveball, it better break. Hanging curves equal earned runs in this league, you just can't get away with them. Unfortunately, Valdez's curveball tends to hang. He attacks lefties and righties with similar success.
Defense & Hitting Valdez is nothing special in the field. He doesn't have much of a pickoff move and he's slow getting the ball to home plate out of the set position. Valdez is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Valdez has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Retired or Inactive Players have been known to use Valdez as a pinch-runner on occasion.
2010 Outlook But if you ask me, I'll pass on Valdez.
