Brett Wagner
Starting Pitcher | Philadelphia Phillies
Pitching Wagner's bread and butter pitch is his slider. I've seen it baffle many a right handed batter. Wagner is a control pitcher; when he's on he has pinpoint control. His fastball gets into the high 80s, but it's the sink that makes the pitch effective. Wagner also has a decent changeup. He traditionally fares better against lefties.
Defense & Hitting He gobbles up comebackers, sometimes roaming far from the mound to get a glove on a ball. Though he lacks a good pickoff move, he checks the running game with a compact stretch delivery. Wagner is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Wagner has some pop in his swing.
