Waner never has been a patient hitter. Waner always has been a line-drive hitter who uses the entire field. He hits righthanders and lefthanders with equal consistency.

Baserunning & Defense
He's an adequate catchers who is helped by his experience. His arm is accurate enough. Waner isn't fast, but he's a heady baserunner who rarely gets thrown out.

2010 Outlook
I can't say I know what The St. Louis Cardinals were doing locking this guy up to a long term contract. A questionable call at best. Waner has below average skills, even for the low minors. One has to expect the St. Louis Cardinals will give him his walking papers before the end of the season.
