Sean Wooton
Catcher | Chicago White Sox

Hitting
Wooton is an excellent mistake hitter who belts middle-of-the-plate fastballs or hanging breaking balls. In past seasons, Wooton has been a bit of a liability with men on base. He has a natural lift to his swing, which produces few groundballs. He hangs in well against lefthanders' breaking balls, and some of the pitchers he hits best are the southpaw specialists often brought in to face him. You can expect Sean Wooton to pull the ball.

Baserunning & Defense
He doesn't get good jumps on grounders, but his routes are fine and his hands aren't bad. Runners take advantage of his weak arm. Wooton doesn't have great speed, though he reads righthanders' moves well enough to steal a handful of bases each season without getting caught very often.

2010 Outlook
In three full big league seasons, Wooton already has done more than what scouts projected when he came out of college.
