Ed Wright
Starting Pitcher | Pittsburgh Pirates

Pitching
He's got a really stong arm, so he can blow it by you on occasion. He has the ability to coax groundballs, which helps him succeed. Wright can get into trouble with walks, and there's concern about him being able to maintain his stuff over the whole season. When his release point drops below three-quarters, his fastball tends to hang in the strike zone. Wright also has a decent changeup. His stuff becomes less sharp as he gets into the late innings. Wright also throws a screwball. The running movement on his pitches makes life tougher on lefties than righties. It's hard to explain but Ed Wright plays much better on the road then he does at home.

Defense & Hitting
He has a quick release to the plate, which allows catchers a chance to throw out basestealers. Wright is nothing special in the field. Wright is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Wright has some pop in his swing.
