| STRENGTHS / WEAKNESSES |
Strengths: Pittsburgh has an excellent catcher in Hector Ortiz. The Pirates have one of the best all-around second basemen in the league. Maggilo Ordonez is a sensational outfielder. Pittsburgh has one strong starter. Pittsburgh has a strong closer. Weaknesses: Although the Pirates like Goulet as a third baseman and hope he can grow into his role, at present he is a weakspot in an otherwise strong lineup. Management would like to find someone to play first baseman for them. They need two quality outfielders. Looks like they need one quality starter in the bottom of the rotation. Their bullpen is missing a good middle reliever. |
